Give Time

Homefull has volunteers who help us with a variety of tasks, from stuffing envelopes for large mailings to teaching classes at our permanent supportive housing programs. Some opportunities are available on a one-time or occasional basis, but we are always looking for reliable volunteers who can help us on an ongoing basis. Most of our volunteer opportunities take place during regular business hours, but some weekend and evening opportunities are available.

Want to volunteer? Email our Volunteer Coordinator to get involved.

Our current needs include:

Micro Farm

Located on the grounds of the Gateway Shelter for Men, Homefull’s Micro Farm boasts  over 160 raised beds, growing fresh produce. We are looking for volunteers to work on our Micro Farm.  We are in need of volunteers to weed, water plants, pick produce, build additional beds, and plant for the Spring season. Great for individuals and groups!

Programming

Our clients are in need of programs to help them with their transition back into housing.  We are looking for individuals who would be willing to create and teach a curriculum for life skills classes like job interviewing, resume development, money management, health/hygiene and nutrition.  Any suggestions are welcome, as we are developing these programs weekly!

Filing Clerks

Because homelessness is a far-reaching and complex problem, it generates a great deal of paperwork. As a result, we are in need of a diligent volunteer who would be willing to sort through our filing cabinets and reorganize the files inside them. If you have the time to help us and you are willing to work efficiently, this would certainly be a brief commitment. Call or email for details!

Computer Lab Aides

The Gettysburg Gateway for Men Shelter (1921 S Gettysburg Ave.) and River Commons (144 E. Helena St.), a permanent supportive housing facility for previously homeless individuals, have opened computer labs to help their residents in obtaining employment and housing. Homefull is in need of volunteer computer aides to monitor the labs, help our clients fill out job applications, and answer any of their computer related questions.

Volunteers must be computer literate and able to field simple questions about surfing the internet and using Microsoft Office. Monitors need not be experts, but the more computer knowledge you have, the better!

Computer aides are needed at both locations from 9:00AM to 12:00PM  and 1:00PM to 4:00PM Monday – Friday.

Donation Delivery Volunteers

Homefull has a completely volunteer-run furniture donation delivery program for our clients who have moved from homelessness and into housing. Furniture movers are needed to help deliver furniture to our newly housed clients. Heavy lifting is required, but is made up by the rewarding experience of bringing beds, tables, chairs, couches, etc. to our clients who need them. Furniture delivery volunteers are needed every week. Great for groups!

If you are interested in getting involved with Homefull as a volunteer, please contact our Volunteer Coordinator at volunteer@homefull.org. We will get back with you as quickly as possible to try and match your availability and interests with a specific volunteer need at our agency.

Thank you!
