Legislative Alerts

No longer is it acceptable to be solely reactive to homelessness. With that in mind, Homefull takes proactive steps to position itself as an agency that can affect change.

Legislative Alerts

Position statements are published regarding numerous political and social issues including poverty, living wages, and affordable housing. We regularly respond to national, statewide, and local legislative action alerts and meet with political leaders to keep housing and homeless services top priorities. More important, our agency engages the feedback and participation of clients in issues directly impacting them. Clients of Homefull learn the skills to be their own best advocates.

Homefull encourages all community members to help us end homelessness by getting involved and writing or speaking with their government representatives! The U.S. Interagency Council on Homelessness (USICH) released a new federal strategic plan geared toward preventing and ending homelessness. The Secretaries of the Departments of Housing and Urban Development, Health and Human Services, Labor, and Veterans Affairs unveiled Opening Doors: The Federal Strategic Plan to Prevent and End Homelessness together at a White House ceremony in June 2010. The plan, the first comprehensive federal plan developed to prevent and end homelessness, borrows heavily from the principles used in many community plans with similar goals.
